This is an example of a non-min-maxed build. This type of build is ideal when you give it a warhammer. Why? Because it has an ideal sequence of levels as follows:
1-6 Fighter
7-9 Weapon Master
10-20 Weapon Master and Dwarven Defender levelsIdeally, this build wants to get weapon specialization during the first six levels and epic weapon specialization during epic levels. 7 total fighter levels is sufficient for that, meaning Fighter7/WeaponMaster7/DwarvenDefender26 becomes possible, unlocking the final Dwarven Defender Damage Reduction bonus and DD epic bonus feat at level 26. However, in order to qualify for Weapon Master in six fighter levels as a dwarf, there is no space for weapon specialization if an exotic weapon is chosen. Thus, a warhammer becomes the ideal weapon for the build (technically, any martial weapon will do).
(Note: To optimize saving throws, the level layout has to be Fighter6/WeaponMaster6/DwarvenDefender8 at level 20. If you add or subtract levels from any of the three classes, the resulting build will have lower final saving throws.)
A couple examples of fighter/weapon master/dwarven defender builds done with a proper martial weapon can be found here: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/nwnecbguild/weaponized-wall-fighter-7-weapon-master-7-dwarven–t2354271.html
However, I really wanted to play a dwarf who was wielding a dwarven waraxe so I put together this build. If you want to be wise, please use one of the other builds I linked for you. On the other hand, if you want to play a (stubborn) dwarf of tradition and loyalty (wisdom isn’t really his forte), here’s a build for you!

40: Discipline(1), Spellcraft(1), Spot(1),(For anyone who read this far, how did I justify losing 3/- DR just to use an exotic weapon? Or why did I put so many skill points into crafting? This build is intended for Swordflight, in which there are very nice and useful exotic weapons, such as one that allows for the casting of two tenth-level Flame Weapon spells daily. There is also a nice crafting system that justifies the investment into crafting skills. Why does my Spellcraft end at an awkward number? Because you get an epic bard companion in Swordflight who can potentially buff all your skills by up to 19 with her bard song. Since I will have 7 Spellcraft ranks at level 40, she’ll be able to boost my Spellcraft to 25+, giving me +5 to saving throws vs. spells, if I can get her Perform skill up to 95+.)
