Hail, everyone!
This is my interpretation of the Dwarf Grimgnaw. As we know, Bioware employees weren’t exactly keen on making the OC Henchmen powerful, so they just made them as pure-class characters with no depth in the builds to express their personalities. Grimgnaw is the perfect example of this, although I guess when they made him, prestige classes didn’t exist, but they didn’t review him either, so he didn’t “evolve” alongside the game. In th game, he talked a lot about how joining you made him deliver many souls to the Silent Lord, and in HotU, you meet him again as a companion of Balpheron, the Lich, and he’s as bloodthirsty as ever. So, if he enjoys delivering people to death, what better way to express that than making him an Assassin? But I don’t see him as a “sneaky” assassin, I see him as more of a “brutal” assassin, so I went with a STR-based unarmed Monk / Fighter.
There is a lot of room for tweaks in this build, but the general idea is to survive those first 6 levels by kiting and running around a lot, then when you start getting your Assassin levels, using invisibility potions / items (Grimgnaw isn’t a Stealther) to surprise your enemies with insane damage and the possibility to stun them with both Death Attack and Stunning Fists. You may also attempt to knock them prone or disarm them so they don’t strike back as hard. He’s a fast and brutal killer, but his defenses are lacking. You could make him a DEXer, which would significantly improve his AC and defenses, but he runs fast as hell, so if you’re in trouble, just get the hell out and you should be OK. Monk Speed + Haste is broken LOL. The main vulnerability he has is Knockdown, because he doesn’t get Discipline until much later in the build. But again, if they can’t catch you, they can’t KD you!
Anyway, here he is: Grimgnaw!
