This is today’s second dwarven fighter/wizard build. It picks weapon master as its third class.
Pros:
1. Four attacks per round
2. 25+ wizard levels for eventual immunity to Greater Dispelling
3. Can freely cast while wearing armor and using a shield (the three autostill feats)
4. Incredible critical hit chance and critical hit damage (10-20 x3)
5. Doesn’t generate attacks of opportunity from moving around in combat (Spring Attack)
6. +4AC vs. attacks of opportunity – valuable to have on a caster (Mobility)
7. Epic Warding & Epic Mage ArmorCons:
1. No spell penetration feats
2. No Dev. Crit
3. Lowish AB of 40 – however, True Strike can help immensely
4. No UMD
5. No Evasion
6. Cross-classed TumbleWhy might I play this character: Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. If most of a character’s hits are x3 critical hits, he’s in good shape. Oh, this character is also (at max level) a wizard who is immune to Greater Dispelling, can cast while wearing armor and equipping a shield, has Epic Warding and Epic Mage Armor. It should be quite fun to see what this character is capable of.
Possible edit: This build could have two less fighter levels and two more wizard levels between levels 18 and 20. Making that change would mean removing one pre-epic feat and adding an epic feat instead (Wizard 26 bonus feat). It would lower the build’s attack rating by one (which is why I didn’t do it) but it would increase caster level (spell penetration) and spell durations. This build is more focused on weapon prowess (hence the choice of weapon master as its third class) so I focused on martial prowess instead of magical prowess.
Final note: I think the adventuring environment is always relevant in every build, and in my case, I build for Swordflight. There are annoying enemies with Greater Dispelling who make the 25 wizard levels really important in my view. Craft armor and craft weapon skills are quite valuable in Swordflight, which is why skill points are invested there. Search and Spot are sometimes used to find things that would otherwise be invisible, so I invested some left-over points into those skills.
Feel free to comment and let me know what you think of the build.
