This was a very creative build I came up with:
– Sorcerer 20 for arcane spellcasting and damage shields
– RDD 10 for amazing strength to hit things
– Palemaster 10 for critical hit and sneak immunity, to allow for a low AC damage shield strategy
The goal was ridiculous damage output with low AC damage shields combined with a 38 Str (capped at 50 Str) two handed melee attack.
I did some of the math:
CL20 Mestil’s Acid Sheath acid 1d6 + 40 / hit ,
CL20 Elemental Shield fire 1d6 + 20/hit,
Death Armor tickles em with magical 1d4+5.Add them together and this is 68 to 81 damage / hit received by an enemy.
This is already more than the 2d6 +30 19-20/x2 from the Str 50 greatsword.With deliberate low AC, nearly all attacks hit. This approximate 75 damage / hit from enemies is multiplied by the number of attacks by each opponent has.
Then multiply that again by the number of opponents you are facing.
One can further trigger attacks of opportunity as well by drinking potions or moving without tumble for extra damage for even more damage, although you might want to be hitting them each round as well.Assuming enemies do not have any elemental or magical resistance:
– 4 warriors with 4 attacks / round hitting you -> 1088 to 1296 damage per round.
– 4 monks or rogues with 6 attacks / round hitting you with all three shields up -> 1632 to 1944 damage per round.
– Drink a potion / round, add approximately 400 damage / round
– 8 opponents -> double thisetc etc
In comparison, the highest damage sneak attack build I can think of right now is a half-orc Str 30->42 AB 39 Rogue 35, Blackguard 4, Monk 1 ITWF kama build with BAB 26, Improved Sneak Attack X, flurry and haste.
This does approximately assuming each attack hits and sneak damage is applied each hit:
– 10 APR, 1d6 +16 str damage 29d6 sneak attack = 460 to 1960 sneak damage / roundI hit the ants with a two handed sword with RDD strength. They hit me and hit themselves for a lot of damage / round. They can’t hit me as hard, because I am critical hit immune, sneak attack immune, and have spells (Premonition/Shadow Shield) which reduce damage dealt to me. NWN: EE, WoG PW Server
There are some bad things about the shields. One is that the breach spell or breach effect from Mords will remove them automatically. The other is fire/acid immunes. Hopefully Sorcerer 20 (ie Bigby’s IGMS and Time Stop) plus that big greatsword with 50 Str will help solve other problems.
The low AC means lots of crits received until PM 10 is obtained, also archers and touch attacks like Harm, Bigby’s 7 are a pain to manage. RDD +4 AC and PM +6 AC does help though.
The skill points are awful by the way, I wanted the HP to be around 400 for ease of leveling until one can get crit immunity. Perhaps a power gamer can manage with 360hp, and have 86 skill points to use for whatever they want.
