    Hey everyone!

     

    This is my NWN interpretation of Yoshimo, the bounty hunter from BG 2. He was a traitor, who worked for Irenicus, but pretended to be a fellow escapee of the dungeon just to gain your trust. He had this Set Snare ability, which of course in NWN is represented by traps, but he was also more of a DEX character than a STR one. Here is where the problem starts, when you think about translating characters between systems with different rules. He used to dual-wield Katanas, even in his portrait, there are his magnificent swords. Yet, Katanas are neither Finessable (to allow him to be DEX-based), nor dual-wieldable without severe AB penalties due to the fact they’re medium weapons. So, it becomes a matter of what is more important to you. Do you see Yoshimo without the Katanas, or do you think the swords are an intrinsical part of his look and feel?

     

    Instead of giving you my favourite option, I worked together with my friend Stagmeister on making 2 versions of Yoshimo. The one I made is STR-based and a single-Katana wielder, maintaining his weapon, but changing his fighting style. The second one, which he worked on, is DEX-based and goes for Kukries instead of Katanas, so now he can be DEX-based, have Epic Dodge, but does much less damage than he would with his original weapon. Unfortunately this is one of those cases where it’s impossible to translate all the aspects and abilities of the character from one system to another, so you can choose whichever alternative you deem closer to the actual Yoshimo in your view. All in all, both builds should be very effective representations of him.

    What does it mean when I see “Save (X)” in the build? This looks very fun to play!

    It means that you save that many skill points at that level. Meaning you don’t spend them until later on.
